Our Values

Respect for Our Employees

Our employees make it happen. They are the ones that turn our vision, and your dream vacation, into reality. The most important element in creating an amazing experience is having a friendly, knowledgeable guide who genuinely cares about giving you a memorable experience. We appreciate what our employees do for us and what they do for you and we pledge to always treat them with dignity and fairness. We strive to offer the best training and feedback to help our guides perfect their craft. All porters, guides, and cooks are paid a fair wage and are properly equipped to perform their job safely.

Respect for Our Clients

We know that, for most people, coming to Africa is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Many people have dreamed of this trip their entire lives. We are honored to be given the opportunity to make your dreams a reality. When you are with us your comfort, safety, and happiness are our first priority.

We pledge to treat all of our clients with dignity, respect, and equality regardless of age, physical ability, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, religion and ethnicity. If you are concerned about acceptances of certain identities in Africa, please contact us so we can discuss your concerns.

Respect for Our Community

Poverty is a fact of life in Tanzania and it is plainly visible in all of the communities we work in. Tourism can play a role in changing this, and we take that responsibility very seriously. We never want to contribute to a situation that is exploitative of communities. We want to be a part of a system that honors and empowers local culture and entrepreneurship. That’s not always easy, but we do our best. We also encourage all of our clients to visit community organizations and social entrepreneurs who are doing great work to alleviate poverty where they work.

Respect for Our Environment

We are an outdoor travel company. Our business is inextricably linked to the environment. Kilimanjaro’s glaciers are receding. Flood and drought is affecting local food supplies and migration patterns. To ignore our responsibility to take care of the environment is to ignore the future of our business.

As much as possible we stay at low-impact hotels and campsites. We also offer all of our customers the opportunity to purchase trees and make their trip a zero-carbon-footprint trip. The trees you purchase will be planted by community organizations on Mount Kilimanjaro – you’re free to join in the planting! Globally, trees capture carbon from the atmosphere, reversing the effects of plane travel and driving. Locally, trees capture moisture from the air which slows glacial melting and returns moisture to the slopes of Kilimanjaro.
